When Missing Loved Ones Becomes a Lifestyle
I grew up missing people. My father was a visitor human being — a corporate nomad — so when it came fourth dimension to motion again, we packed up and went where the career opportunities led him.
The only place he ever declined to move was Utah. That'due south considering no one in their right mind agrees to motion to Utah. (Hey, no law-breaking.)
Growing up, I missed friends, neighbors, and classmates across vi states. Relationships were temporary. Living hundreds of miles from relatives, we visited them once or twice a twelvemonth. For 7 years, my dad worked 2d shift so he could climb that corporate ladder; often I missed him, as well.
When I attended college, naturally it was out-of-state. Then, I landed a corporate chore much similar his and connected the nomadic lifestyle of corporate relocations and missing people.
In one case I became a parent, withal, I sought to ensure that my own daughter didn't grow upwards missing people she loved. I wanted to give her the gift of being "from" somewhere. I wanted to give her the gift of non continually feeling loss or separation from all that was familiar.
Nosotros now live a stone's throw from my parents and other family unit. Corporate nomads eventually notice their haven, and it's rarely at the top of the organizational ladder.

"Tears in Heaven" and others are so poignant. The songs that touched my heart after losing loved ones may not fifty-fifty have been ones like this, just ones that we used to sing together or had other meanings. Fourth dimension does heal the initial hurting of losing loved ones, hard as that is to believe when we get-go lose loved ones.
As to your daughter, having a home base and long-lasting friendships, she is fortunate. Some families have no choice in the matter. I am thinking of military families, those who serve equally diplomats, etc.

I met my soulmate while living in Europe as a teenager. We'd spend ours days dreaming nigh a hereafter together. But, her family abruptly left the country and disappeared. The day I watched her board the plane crying is among the worst days of my life.
Nosotros knew we'd probably never see each other over again and promised to always call back, and find each other in the next life.
In the years since, I've searched, but never found whatsoever trace of her.
And, while my life went on, I've never forgotten her.
The song that always makes me stop and think well-nigh her and what could have been is "Who Wants to Live Forever" by Queen. Like in the vocal, we just weren't fated to be together. But, we had our i sweet moment - our forever.

Equally I read the lines that to me were so sweet
I retrieve our faded love
I miss you darling more than and more every day

With every heartbeat I still think of you
and recall our faded love
I think of the past and all the pleasures we've had
every bit I sentinel the mating of the dove
It was in the springtime that you lot said adieu
I remember our faded love
I miss you darling...
